WDA ran a tailoring training in dress making for 20 women from Kigoma, Tanzania.

Simon Leigh raised money for this project when he climbed the Kilimanjaro a few months ago.

Here’s a summary of the project that have come to an end recently.

By the end of the project the trained girls started working as self-employed at ‘Mafunzo Stadi na Ajira kwa Wasichana’ in Kigoma town.

They have increased their incomes from an average of 2,000 (70p) Tanzanian shillings a day to 3,600 (£1.2). The women have also started a self help group where they are supporting each other in times of sickness, death, wedding etc. The group is well known in the area and respected by the community.
