Welcome to Open Book, where we will be exploring books from a diverse selection of fantastic writers and touching on universal themes of identity, equality and social justice.
Meeting quarterly, online or in person, join us to discuss new books and old favourites, and to vote on the next book we’ll be opening together.
Open to readers or audiobook listeners of all ages and backgrounds.
Sign up to our next meeting at 7 PM on Tuesday, 6th April.
We will be discussing Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart.
“Laying bare the ruthlessness of poverty, the limits of love, and the hollowness of pride, Shuggie Bain is a blistering and heartbreaking debut, and an exploration of the unsinkable love that only children can have for their damaged parents.” – Booker Prize Winner, 2020
