Brighten Futures This Chanukah

After chaos and destruction only a drop of oil could be found, hardly enough to light the menorah for one night. Yet, the tiny drop of oil miraculously burned for eight nights. A drop did a lot.

On Chanukah, we’ll light the candles in disbelief that a drop could ever do the same again. Yet at Tzedek we know it can.

Tzedek’s Empowerment for Life (E4L) programme, delivered in partnership with GDCA in Northern Ghana, has caused ripple effects already. In Tolon, the E4L team is training youth groups to set up their own businesses. As Ibrahim Ubaida, one of E4L’s Coordinators in the Kumbungo District, just 20km from Tolon, explained: “They didn’t know how to mobilise resources… Part of the youth group were trained in the entrepreneurship bootcamp and a number of them have established businesses… and we have one that established a private school”.

Meet Iddrisu.

Iddrisu Abdul Rahman was trained as part of the E4L programme and set up the ‘Wisdom and Knowledge Academy’ in the Kumbungo District. “At the time that I started this school there were only five students. After the E4L bootcamp training it increased from 12 to 96. Comparing this to the public school, there is a great difference, both [in] writing and speaking [levels].” Previous Chanukah gifts supporting the E4L programme, brightened over 100 futures both directly and indirectly. A drop can do a lot.

Instead of a material gift this Chanukah, Tzedek invites you to gift your loved one the drop that starts the ripple, brightening futures of vulnerable women and young people.

In return, we’ll send you a personalised thank you in the post, as well as a digital certificate to send the recipient of the gift. Brighten their day as well as the futures of vulnerable women and young people in Ghana and India this Chanukah.

Throughout this Chanukah period we’ll be sharing on more cases from Ghana and India on Facebook and Instagram as well as on this blog to highlight just how far your gift will go.

Wishing all our supporters Chag Sameach.
