Tzedek is delighted to welcome Miles Webber as our new Board Chairperson. Miles brings significant expertise to the role, and a wealth of professional and lay-leadership experience.
Since 2020, Miles has been Senior Partner at Baytree, a corporate affairs management consultancy, having joined from the FTSE100 real estate business, Landsec, where he was Group Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director and a member of the Executive Committee. He has formerly worked for a number of other high-profile companies, including General Electric (GE) and Merrill Lynch.
Miles has also held a number of prominent roles in the Jewish community, including serving as Executive Director of Labour Friends of Israel in the early 90s. He is currently a Trustee of the UJIA and the Institute for Jewish Policy Research. Miles is a former Trustee of the New Israel Fund and the former Co-Chair of Lead, the JLC’s leadership development organisation. He is also a member of Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue.
As Tzedek’s Chair, Miles will also bring sector-specific knowledge as Chairperson of Inspirasia, an International Development NGO, and further experience from varied roles beyond our own community, including as Board Director of the Westminster Forum and a founding Board Director of the Foreign Policy Centre.
On the announcement of his new position as Tzedek’s Chair, Miles says:
“I am delighted to be joining Tzedek, which is an organisation I have admired for a long time. There has never been a more important time as a Jewish community to make our contribution to the wider world, working with local partners in Ghana and India in reducing extreme poverty. Tzedek’s mission to empower communities to lift themselves above the extreme poverty line whilst increasing our own community’s sense of global social responsibility is a powerful and vital cause, that I am looking forward to helping further establish at the heart of the community.”
Kira Blumer, Tzedek’s CEO, shares:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Miles to Tzedek. He is a proven leader who has dedicated many years to strengthening our UK Jewish community, while demonstrating his commitment to outward-looking social justice causes beyond our own door. Miles will be an exemplary strategic partner to our board and professional team, building on Tzedek’s recent growth and leading us into the next phase as a central communal institution.”
Miles will be making his first public appearance at our upcoming online event on 21st April, from 8pm. Join us to hear from Miles and to enjoy our expert panel and moderator, in conjunction with the Tzedek team, exploring our global economy, from the unique dual perspective of corporate finance and non-profit international development.
