THE BEN AZZAI PROGRAMME
We are proud to be working with the Office of the Chief Rabbi on the Ben Azzai Programme, an annual initiative introduced by Chief Rabbi Mirvis.
The Ben Azzai Programme is a unique opportunity to learn about development within an orthodox Jewish framework. In exploring sustainable initiatives to alleviate extreme poverty globally, this programme also addresses the challenges and misconceptions surrounding extreme poverty and community development.
Although Covid-19 has prevented the programme from taking place for the last two years, we have now completely reimagined this educational programme. For the first time, the Ben-Azzai Programme is a year-long programme, allowing for real connections, deep thinking, and action.
Through a combination of online learning with subject experts and site visits in the UK, the programme will deliver a global education from within this country. It will highlight crucial work being carried out by us and our partners in Tolon, Northern Ghana, and four states of India, while exploring the Jewish imperative to be socially responsible, compassionate global citizens.
At the end of the year, participants will join previous Ben Azzai Programme alumni. They will continue to learn together and proudly become part of the next generation of outward-facing Jewish leaders.
April 2022: Please get your application in as soon as possible.
It is important to note that this is not a volunteering programme, but an experiential educational opportunity based online and in the UK. This format ensures that the programme champions ethical engagement with our partner communities and fairly represents our focus regions.
